Description

Black Annealed Wire

Product Overview

Black Annealed Wire is a versatile, low-carbon steel wire known for its exceptional flexibility, softness, and high plasticity. It is produced by subjecting wire rod to a controlled annealing process (heat treatment) in a furnace, followed by controlled cooling. This process creates a dark, oxidized surface (the "black" finish) and removes internal stresses, making the wire much softer and more malleable than standard steel wire.

It is widely used in construction, agriculture, and handicrafts, primarily for tying, bundling, and fencing applications.

Material

Base Material: Low-carbon steel (Q195, Q235, or SAE 1006/1008).

Surface Finish: Black oxide (produced by the annealing process). Unlike galvanized wire, it does not have a zinc coating.

Core Property: Soft, annealed structure.

Characteristics

High Softness & Flexibility: Easier to handle, bend, and tie compared to hard-drawn wire. It maintains its knot strength without snapping.

Good Plasticity: Does not spring back easily; retains the shape it is bent into.

Cost-Effective: Lower cost compared to galvanized or PVC-coated wires, ideal for temporary or interior applications.

Black Oxide Coating: Provides a minimal level of corrosion resistance suitable for indoor or dry environments (Note: it is not rust-proof for long-term outdoor exposure).

Consistent Diameter: Maintains uniform thickness throughout the length for reliable performance.

Applications

Construction: Tying rebar (reinforcing steel bars) in concrete structures, scaffolding lashing, and wire mesh fabrication.

Agriculture: Baling hay, straw, or cotton; tying vines in vineyards; fencing (secondary binding).

Daily Use: Binding waste paper, fixing fences, hanging fixtures, and handicraft making (e.g., floral stems, tree binding).

Industrial: Making nails, chain link fencing, and as core wire for other coated wires.

Packaging

To ensure the wire remains undamaged and rust-free during transit and storage, we offer the following packaging options:

Small Coils (1kg - 10kg)

Individually wrapped with plastic film.

Bundled in 25kg or 50kg woven polypropylene (PP) bags or cartons.

Large Coils (50kg - 500kg)

Wound on wooden or steel reels/spools.

Covered with moisture-proof paper and plastic wrap

Palletization

Coils are packed onto wooden pallets, compressed with steel strapping, and wrapped with stretch film for easy forklift handling.

FAQ

Q: Is black annealed wire rust-proof?

A: No. The black oxide layer offers minimal corrosion resistance. It is designed for interior use or applications where the wire will be embedded in concrete (which actually benefits from the mild rust for bonding). For long-term outdoor use, we recommend galvanized iron wire or PVC-coated wire.

Q: What is the difference between black annealed wire and galvanized wire?

A: Black annealed wire is heat-treated for softness and has no protective coating. Galvanized wire is coated with zinc for corrosion resistance but is typically stiffer. Black annealed is preferred for tying where flexibility is key; galvanized is preferred for outdoor longevity.

Q: Can you provide oiled or unoiled wire?

A: Yes. Oiled wire has a thin film of oil to reduce immediate rusting during storage. Unoiled (dry) wire is cleaner to handle but may rust faster if stored in humid conditions.

Q: What is the tensile strength?

A: The tensile strength typically ranges between 350 MPa and 550 MPa. We can customize the annealing degree to achieve specific hardness requirements based on your order.

Q: Do you offer custom sizes?

A: Yes. We support OEM and custom orders. You can specify the coil weight, inner diameter (I.D.), outer diameter (O.D.), and packaging style according to your needs.

Q: How is the wire packed for export?

A: Small coils are usually packed in PP bags (25kg/bag) loaded onto pallets. Large spools are packed individually. All shipments are containerized with moisture-proof materials to ensure safe sea transportation.
