Description

Barbed Wire

Product Introduction

Barbed wire is a type of steel fencing wire constructed with sharp edges or points arranged at intervals along the strands. It is a primary solution for security fencing, boundary demarcation, and livestock management. Known for its high tensile strength and psychological deterrence, it is one of the most cost-effective perimeter protection products available.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What is the difference between Electro Galvanized and Hot Dip Galvanized?

A: Electro galvanized provides a thin, shiny coating suitable for dry climates or short-term use. Hot Dip Galvanized (HDG) involves dipping the wire in molten zinc, resulting in a thicker, matte grey coating that offers 3 to 5 times more corrosion resistance, ideal for long-term outdoor agricultural use.

Q2: How do I choose the correct wire gauge?

A: For permanent livestock fencing, 12.5 gauge (2.5mm) is standard. For heavy-duty security or large cattle (bulls), 10 gauge (3.2mm) is recommended. For lighter applications like garden fences or temporary yards, 14–16 gauge is sufficient.

Q3: Can barbed wire be used for horse fencing?

A: We strongly advise against using barbed wire for horses. Horses are more prone to panic and lack the thick hides of cattle; they can suffer severe lacerations. Smooth wire or electric tape is recommended for equine fencing.

Q4: How long does barbed wire last?

A: Lifespan depends on the coating:
Electro Galvanized: 5–10 years.
Hot Dip Galvanized (thick coating): 15–30 years.
PVC Coated: 20–30 years (provided the PVC layer is not cut).

Q5: What is the standard length per roll?

A: While customizable, the industry standard for export is usually 200 meters to 400 meters per roll, with a weight control of 25 kg to 50 kg per roll for manual handling ease.

Q6: Do you provide samples?

A: Yes, we provide free existing samples. Customized samples require a nominal fee, which is refundable upon placing a bulk order.

Q7: What is the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?

A: The MOQ is typically 5 tons for standard specifications, or 1x20ft container (approximately 15–18 tons). Smaller trial orders can be negotiated depending on stock availability.
