Perforated BBQ Grill Mesh
Product Overview
A Perforated Grill Sheet is a type of grilling accessory manufactured by punching numerous holes (round, square, or hexagonal) into a solid metal sheet using a stamping press. Unlike traditional woven or welded wire grates, this one-piece construction has no weak welding points, offering superior flatness and structural integrity. It is highly resistant to warping under high heat, making it the preferred choice for high-end BBQ restaurants and home grilling enthusiasts.

Material
The material of the grill sheet directly impacts its durability and food safety. Common options include:
201 Stainless Steel: Offers decent corrosion resistance and high strength at a lower cost. However, due to its manganese content, its oxidation resistance at prolonged high temperatures is slightly lower compared to 304.
304 Stainless Steel: The industry standard for food-grade applications. It features excellent high-temperature resistance and anti-corrosion properties. It provides a non-stick effect during grilling, is easy to clean, and is hygienic.
430 Stainless Steel: Known as "ferritic stainless steel," it is magnetic and has good thermal conductivity. However, its corrosion resistance is not as high as 304, making it suitable for specific applications requiring magnetism.
Galvanized Iron/Low Carbon Steel: Often used for disposable or budget-friendly grills. The zinc coating prevents rust, but the high-temperature safety is not comparable to stainless steel.
Pure Copper: A premium choice for high-end Yakiniku (Japanese BBQ). Copper offers exceptional thermal conductivity for even cooking and creates perfect sear marks. It is softer and requires hand washing.
Manufacturing Process
The core processes involve stamping and edge finishing:
Blanking & Stamping
A full coil of stainless steel or copper is fed into a high-power punch press. The die punches out scrap material to form a uniform pattern of holes. This single-step process ensures the sheet remains perfectly flat and the hole spacing is consistent.
Edge Rolling/Beading
To protect users from sharp edges, the perimeter of the sheet is folded over or wrapped with a stainless steel strip. This "beading" is secured by welding or mechanical crimping, providing a smooth, safe grip.
Surface Finishing
Polishing: Mechanical or electrochemical polishing creates a mirror finish, enhancing aesthetics and non-stick properties.
Non-stick Coating: Some sheets undergo an electrophoresis process or are sprayed with a food-grade non-stick coating to make cleaning burnt residue easier.
Key Specifications
Specifications are often customizable, but common industry ranges include:
|
Shape & Size |
Shapes: Round, Square, Rectangular (with or without handles). Common Diameters/Sizes: 200mm to 600mm (8" to 24"). Thickness: Typically ranges from 1.0mm to 1.5mm. Thicker sheets retain heat better but are heavier. |
|
Hole Pattern |
Hole Shape: Round (most common), Square, or Hexagonal. Hole Diameter: Usually 4mm to 12mm. Smaller holes prevent vegetables and shrimp from falling through. Pitch (Center-to-Center distance): Generally 5mm to 15mm. |
|
Handle Design |
Available with foldable handles for storage or fixed stainless steel handles for easy lifting. |
